Navigating the DMS Console

When loading the DMS Console the default screen is referred to as the Home screen. The top menu bar of the Home screen is always visible when using the DMS Console and includes a 6 button menu bar, a Search field, and a Tools menu. The other menu buttons from the left are:

Press F3 for quick access to the Search field.

  • Sign Out
  • Setup - setup server connection details
  • Change Password
  • Feedback - launch Modus Feedback web page
  • Support - launch the local email client and create a template email to log a support problem

Home Screen

The Home Screen is a configurable work space where the Admin user can add Schedule Groups and Asset Locations to be managed. This is done using the Dashboard Setup option, which will open a twin pane screen that has a list of Currently Selected Items on the left side and Available Items on the right side. Double clicking on an item will move it from its current location to the opposite pane, as will selecting the item and using the left or right arrows at the top of the pane.

Placing the Open Schedule Group option on the Home screen allows any Schedule Group Deployment window to be opened directly from the Home screen.

Tasks Window

The Tasks Window allows the Admin user to view all T-date Tasks for selected Schedule Groups. This provides a wide reaching view that looking at the Tasks for individual Schedule Groups. The list or agenda view of Tasks is a useful tool to help track the key activities required to manage the project. You can click on any Task as required and set it as Complete and/or add Notes to it.

As well selecting which Schedule Groups to manage you can also:

  • Chose the date
  • Show or hide the Tasks within the days
  • Include or exclude Tasks with a completed status (Green)
  • Select All, None or Invert the list of Schedule Groups

Deployments Window

This view of Deployments is slightly different to the Deployments Window available through the Schedule Group tool bar on the Home screen. It allows an Admin to view Deployments across multiple Schedule Groups rather than individual Schedule Groups.

The screen is divided into three panes, left header, left and right. By default the left header is set to Schedule Groups, the left pane shows the list of Schedule Groups and the right pane shows the deployments for the selected Schedule Groups.

To use this window select the Schedule Groups to be viewed. You can then select and edit the properties of any Deployment in the right pane. The other benefit of this window is it allows the deployments in the selected Schedule Groups to be viewed based on other data other than the Schedule Group.

Use the left header to change the view of the selected Schedule Groups which will allow filtering of the Deployments based on the selection in the left pane:

ScheduleThis changes the view to show a date range that covers the deployment windows of the selected Schedule Groups
StatusThis changes the view to show the DMS Deployment States from 1 Edit through to 7R Rescheduled and a numerical indicator of how many of the deployments in the selected Schedule Groups
TagsIf Deployment Tags have been used in any Deployments in the selected Schedule Groups they will be listed in the left pane

Notices Window

Click on the + Add button to add a new Notice to the DMS Web Portal home page. Notices are displayed to all Admin users when they logon to the DMS Web Portal home page and is useful when needing to give information about the use of DMS to Admin users outside of the PMO team, for example engineers/technicians, who may work in remote locations or even different time zones.
